Everything depends on what the Chinese tell him in private. We can only guess at that.
Looking from our shores it may look this way. But - read that in a Chinese political poll that North Korea was seen as by far the number one threat to the stability of China. Don't know in what context - maybe they're worried that a new Korean War with American participation may be worse than the last one? Who knows. But they're worried. Another thing they're worried about is the possibility of millions of North Korean refugees coming to China.

In a word, its complicated.
