I would be very suprised if this thread had any effect on the stock price. In regard to the 13k posts, the high volume of this thread might actually keep folks from reading it as one would have to spend a lot of time just to keep current -- its easier to follow the press releases on yahoo.

As far as comparisons to other threads (and many stocks have multiple threads), it might be more interesting to quantify how many regulars participate (i.e., how many different folks contributed to the MSFT thread last week as compared to the LGND thread). Also, there is no way to quantify the 'lurkers'

Texas, I think that you have come upon something that has escaped the rest of us. Now I know what Henry is up to! He is going to have all 13,000 posts bound into a paperback novel and try to get "Ligand Breakout" on the best sellers list!

What a mystery story. What drama! Over a year of LGND stockholders eating peanut butter, waiting for the breakout! I can picture myself, sitting on the throne, reading thru all 13,000 notes. After reading the first 1000 notes one's heart would start to pound faster. Sweat would form from the top of your brow and drip down onto the pages, giving the image of one's life's blood, shed in anticipation of an "up day".

But, as with all good mystery novels, there may be a surprise ending! What will the last chapter show? I can only guess that the last note in the book will be one by TexasDude, starting as follows:

Since Henry started the thread over 10 years ago there have been over 130,000 posts to the thread ...

Regards, Bob

TD, Actually, there is a way to quantify lurkers, at least for this thread, and that is to check out the number of hits to the web page (and it's even more interesting to see WHO is looking). I won't give specifics, but Biotechs, Pharmas, and Analysts are VERY well represented (and they are represented with real IDs, not handles).

(Actually, the hit list could give Heidi Fleiss a run for her money)
