3/8/2019 Contest update Biotechs turned south after FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb announced his resignation on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the White House declined to comment regarding rumors Gottlieb would be replaced by Martin Shkreli. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 15.90% YTD (vs. 20.41% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 12.17% YTD (vs. 18.92% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 19.94% YTD (vs. 27.54% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 11.65% YTD (vs. up 14.47% YTD a week ago). Defying rational expectation theory, BULBA’s portfolio, up 59.32% YTD, remained in first place. OHM’s portfolio, up 45.51% YTD, moved up to second place and SANCTU’s portfolio, up 42.82%, held on to third place. At Friday's close, 37 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the green, with 26 beating the NBI and 17 now beating the SPSIBI.
