I also got the CC# from SUNW's IR folks. They simply DO NOT want the conference call posted on the web because of the $25 cost of each phone call. They were not restricting shareholders access to the call but were concerned if 30,000 shareholders all called the # it would cost the company ALOT of money. Then factor in the thousands of people who might call the # simply out of curiosity. I think their caution is necessary under the current circumstances.

What we should be doing, instead of knocking SUNW, is encouraging them to make the call more accessable to all at a significantly lower cost. This should be our effort, not to put down the company. Of course the company wants what's best for it's shareholders, that's why they want to keep the cost down!

Relax, if you call the company and explain your situation, I would assume they will give you the access number. Good luck.

What kind of "Investors Relations 'folks' does Sun have?

Maybe a "for analysts only" department. :-) It is nice to try and
save money but they could have easily put the audio file at
the web site without cost.

Here is a URL that gives there phone number/e-mail. You can call
them and vent directly or send them email at
investor-relations@sun.com

sun.com

There is an interesting calendar of events at:

sun.com

There is a "Sun Worldwide Analyst Conference" Jan 29/30. That
might be an important date for upgrades or downgrades to come out and
move stock price. Which way ... is the question. :-)

Thanks for your and the appreciation from all the others who came back to me. Actually, I cannot understand the SUNW policy myself. I mean we own stock, but they are not held in our own name, so other we are not better than any other shareholder. I fully understand the point you and one of the earlier readers make.

As for the act of promise itself, the lady told me not to disclose it and I said like OK, no problem. After all I wanted to get the no.

I would welcome in any case that SUNW posts a transcript of at least the management's prepared remarks on their website.

One other investment pal of mine suggested to me that SUNW became maybe overly thinskinned with regard to distributing information due to the fact that they went through 2 lawsuits from shareholders because alledgedly false information.

But after all is said and done, SUNW as one of the premier corp. of America and a world tech leader should be able to get their side of the story out to the public in a more accessible way than at present, no doubt about that. I sincerely hope that next Q they improve.

Sorry can't resist, but I'm really not sure if I would want to rely on any of the analysts I heard in the replay. At best, the one with the finance question made some sense and the other asking for Japan impact, and the one asking for sales breakdown along product lines. However SUNW wouldn't share info on that.
