Why was Trump perceived negatively at Bush's funeral? Cathy Buchanan, Terrified cynical Canadian observer of world politics. There are people who actually think he conducted himself well at the funeral. Thanks to Trump’s usual behavior, the bar is now set so low that Trump is actually being praised (by some) for not insulting anyone, causing a scene or holding a rally at the State Funeral of a previous president. But he still managed to let the world know how miserable he was, how little he wanted to be there, and how little respect he has for the office he holds. One thing struck me, and will stick with me… the contrast between the current First Couple and the other people in that pew. George W and Obama were political opponents, but they’ve forged a friendship founded on mutual respect and genuine warmth…George giving Michelle a mint is one of those “smile” moments only friends share. And despite the fact that Obama beat Hillary for the democratic nomination, the two couples are obviously on friendly terms. Even Jimmy Carter looked perfectly comfortable. And Trump? There he sat, your scowling toddler of a POTUS, with his reluctant arm-candy “first lady”, next to the people he’s been demonizing, reviling, blaming and insulting for years. He’s claimed credit for their successes, blamed them for his failures, and he had to sit there pretending to honor a man he was deriding as recently as two weeks ago. None of the eulogies were aimed at Trump, but every time words like “integrity”, “service” and “patriot” were spoken, every time George HW’s military service was lauded, every time his devotion to his family was mentioned, it was like a rebuke to Trump. He suffers by comparison, he knows it, and he hates it. He’s a very little man, and yesterday he had to sit among the great men who came before him and show just how little he really is.

I celebrate anything that protects freedom of speech from monsters like you and the liberal left, who are doing your damnedest to silence conservative speech, including trying to destroy the reputation of a kid wearing a MAGA hat, punching a MAGA hat wearer in the face at Berkeley, knocking the hat off a guy drinking a bear at a bar, banning and censoring people with conservative opinions from Twitter or Facebook, and all the other myriad tricks you commis learned from Marx, Lenin, and Mao.
