Message 3191443 And it does look like the contract was announced - although maybe not by DBCO ilr.com AMEC WINS SUPPORT CONTRACT Amec Process and Energy has been awarded the contract to provide engineering and procurement support for the upgrading of the semi-submersible floating production unit Spirit of Columbus, which Petrobras is to use on the Roncador Field in the Campos Basin. This is the first time that a field has been brought to production using an FPU in water depths of more than 1,300 m. The unit was bought from Midland & Scottish Resources, who had it built in Italy on spec by a group led by Maritima of Brazil. Petromec, a Maritima subsidiary, will provide overall project management for the upgrading, and Davie Industries of Canada will carry out construction and procurement. Noble Denton has been awarded the marine engineering contract and Brasoil will execute the subsea design. The unit is to be precommissioned by the end of September 1998.
