Hi DD; Well if things work like they suppose to the DIA will
match the DOW30, ( very close ) as SPY does the S&P, I know at
times SPY gets just a little below, but mostly stays with
just very small premium, you have to be nimble and lucky both
to catch her off even an 1/8pt. AS for beta, beteen the
DOW and S&P, I have not cheched it real close but just checking
the 52 week high/low and the price now, it seems the S&P has
more up side, and falls slower in down drafts than the DOW,
So the DOW wuld have a higher BETA falling, but a lower on
market up turns. SPY pays a dividend, it will be interesting
to see what the DIA will pay.
BTW I looked again at EGHT, and while it looks OK I'm not
all that hot on it..it got some good press and may climb,
but with all the volume I noticed it didn't hang it's
high for the day, and that indicates someone was selling
into the rally on the news. How much more mileage she will
get out of it I don't know, but the vidio phone will take a
bit to catch on. I don't personaly know of any one runing
out buying the stuff yet.

DD and Friends: I would like to encourage chat of this topic.

Shorting SPY on the current downtrend and going long with DIA when the market finally turns up is more suited to my temperament than playing with index options.

Currently using simple 5dMA as a mental stop loss and common sense for closing, ie. covering SPY short last Friday, because I feel the market will pop next week with the much heralded Labor day rally.

Greed got the better part of me last Monday, I could have have covered for a large gain but held out for more.
