Nice new product released by TSQD today. looks like it could be a very big deal. COuld be the start of something big: Tuesday January 20, 3:45 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release Tech Squared Inc. Introduces Multi-Format Data Storage Solution MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 1998--Tech Squared Inc. (Bulletin Board: TSQD) today introduced a new product, the ''Translation Station''(TM) data storage system that enables Windows-and MacOS-based computers to read from, and write to, a wide variety of data storage formats. Featuring a SCSI interface and a 300 watt power supply, the Translation Station can accommodate up to six disc or tape drives with any combination of formats including, but not limited to: Iomega Zip and Jaz drives; Syquest SyJet, EZFlyer and older 44MB-200MB drives; CD-Recordable and CD-Rewritable drives; DVD drives; Magneto-Optical drives; DAT and DLC tape drives; and many more. ''Many of our DTP Direct customers are frustrated by the growing number of data storage 'standards' in the marketplace'' said Rick Apple, Tech Squared's Sr. VP of Marketing. ''Pre-press service bureaus, catalogers, newsletter publishers. in fact, most customers receiving images or other sizable data from outside sources are now receiving those images on a variety of incompatible disks or tapes. To handle those multiple formats, users have historically added more drives to their computers. However, that solution ranges from the expensive to the impossible, depending on how many systems need to be upgraded and on the number of drive bays available'' continued Apple. ''The Translation Station solves those problems. By developing an external, SCSI-compatible unit that can be custom configured by us or by an end user, we have increased flexibility, reliability and expandability, made it easier to upgrade to future technologies and lowered the cost of those upgrades. The Translation Station can be connected to a standalone PC or Mac, or can be connected to a server so that one set of drives can service an entire network of computers.'' In addition to supporting today's drive technologies, the Translation Station will support future technologies developed into SCSI devices, as well as SCSI drives formats no longer in production. These capabilities will extend the useful life of Translation Stations and will also enable access to, and transfer of, data archived on older technology disks and tapes.
