So Warren is just jumping on the bandwagon. The fact is that monopolies are a product of laissez faire capitalism. Capitalism is not perfect. If left completely unchecked as in laissez faire, it results in natural monopolies, which destroy all competition and result in bad outcomes for consumers. That is part of the role of government, to break up monopolies and ensure the vibrancy of small business, ample competition, and a level playing field. The FTC was created for that purpose. Liberals want to own the means of production and regulate everything, including stifling regulations like price controls that destroy market mechanisms, innovation, and small businesses. Idiotic conservatives or greedy monopolists want companies like Google or Amazon to aggregate so much power that our country becomes fascist. You are either the former or the latter. You are inconsistent, so I think you may be both simultaneously, because your logic is not internally consistent from post to post. I am a dyed in the wool capitalist, but not a laissez faire capitalist. I'm a practical business man, or was, before I retired. The FTC serves a function and it has lain dormant for too long. Time to take down Google and Facebook and other monopolists that have become monsters that are destroying free speech and committing other massive abuses as they also stifle competition and eviscerate our data privacy. I am supportive of Trump's efforts at the FTC, but I am not supportive of Warren's efforts, because she is a Socialist and she will use the FTC to not only restrain the tech companies, but she'll take it too far into destroying innovation and small businesses too. She's a menace.
