The US desperately needs more tax revenue to fund our current level of welfare state. That increase in itself is going to be huge. The problem is the mood of the country seems to be to expand the welfare state.

1. I do not support increasing the corporate rate - but I would scrub the code to minimize loop holes. It is the rate that impacts investment decisions.

2. Tax increases should not be regressive.

3. That brings us to the top tax rate. I see no reason the upper brackets cannot be increased. The revised corporate rates should be there benefit.

Somehow we have to pay for this pop stand. Just imagine the state and federal deficits the inevitable next recession will bring.

IMO we are now all giddy with the joy of a great Trump economy. Some morning we are going wake up with a severe hangover. Blue states will be particular disasters.

Step one... The motive, AMERICAN Dream, is the same across the board.

Step two...The big pink elephant in room, POLITICS, is removed

Social stability is not as difficult as one would think. They want you to think they are, so that they can have stage to debate the solutions.

Trump is a perfect illustration of the heights America is capable of reaching. He made things look so relatively easy in just 2 years. One can imagine what America could be like if our politicians were replaced with human beings.

They force us to look at Scandinavian countries for solutions. Lets not get fooled

Righteous path + Righteous decisions = American prosperity

SI used to be a discussion forum, now it is just a hate forum. Maybe we can discuss this intelligently without insult. I think I posted this on the right forum.

The nexus of the problem:

You are trying to solve a problem. The left doesn't want to solve it, it is a means to an end. Their actions are making it worse (i.e. illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, playing factions off each other). I used to believe they were sincere in their desire to "fix" problems. No longer, the "problems" are a means to an end. CA has terrible poverty and homelessness so they eliminated opposition, how has that turned out for them? The left's politicians have no desire to address problems. Also not sure that many of the republicans are any better. They are reading from a script meant to deceive (ACA, immigration). Too many people in government whose job is to play act.

Then you have to ask yourself are even capable of addressing these issues?

Stephen....I agree that insulting other posters seems to be the norm on all of the hate-Trump forums on SI. Some of it is shocking to me, so I mostly avoid them.

I'm glad to see that you already have received three very thoughtful responses to your post, and as I would expect from the high-quality posters on this thread, you were not insulted one time.

You chose well. :)

Norway's $1 trillion

It's an outlier in many ways in terms of Natural resources, ethos etc and they may well be in at a sweet spot at the moment even in terms of smart govt > e.g.: ccn.com. Hard to say where they will be in 20, 30, 40 years

But the Nordic countries are all market economies and the top 10% own 66% of the wealth.

I know it is the policy here that the government is not in the business of running a business because we all know it would be mismanaged but what if?

It's a conversation that could be had in the Nordic countries but we're way past that point in terms of the left's extremism and frontal War on capitalism/individual rights etc.

It boils down to human nature and the Founders got it right, never ever trust the govt.

Norway is a small population country with a huge resource base - especially hydropower. Additionally, up until recently, it had a productive homogenous population.

What works there - at least for a while as they are working on trashing their society - would not work here

SI used to be a discussion forum, now it is just a hate forum. Maybe we can discuss this intelligently without insult. I think I posted this on the right forum.

You have to choose the forum for the participation that you desire. The sewer thread is for extreme insults and repeating the same mantra from both sides ad nauseum and then resorting to more insults. Mindmeld recently tried to tame it slightly and was denied by SI management itself.

The View thread usually gets you banned after one post if you're not a liberal or acolyte of Stalin and /or Hitler.

Benway's thread results in eventual one way insulting. I don't think he even realizes that his friends continually insult others since he actually agrees with them and the insults. He allows the moderator of the View thread to have her own way and insult everybody on his thread since he fears her and trembles in fear when she is around. Of course, they all immediately recognize an insult directed toward them and whine about it and then ban you.

This thread, Lindy's thread, TG's thread and J.B.C.'s thread are quite normal. There are others that I don't have the time to frequent. Many members will adjust their posts accordingly depending on the thread that they are posting at. For example, my posts here, or at Lindy's thread or TG's or J.B.C. are totally different than what you see and will usually choose to ignore at the sewer of mankind thread. Unfortunately there is no way to ignore posts just at some threads and not others, but that feature has been requested many times.

OOPS! I forgot to mention GZ's fine thread but Ms Bee does in the header. He gives the losers several chances, more than we get on the liberal threads. He has no tolerance for hit and run posters that refuse to answer direct and simple questions.

The problem with those lunatics pointing to Norway and Sweden as "successful socialist countries" is that both those countries switched to a capitalist economy 15 years ago and that's why their economies are booming, they dumped the socialist scam nearly a generation ago, but don't try to tell that to these anti American assholes, you can't confuse them with the facts... they live in the past and still think we would be better off riding horses than driving cars, or using candles instead of electric power... oh, and while they're at it, they want to bring back slavery and this time everyone would be their slave...

They also want to do away with income, we would work for nothing and the government would give us each a small monthly allowance to spend on chewing gum and candy...
