,Go on. Bring the Jews into it, why don't you!

Way to start a holy war over limbic space. :)

Every disagreement begins with fruit. And then someone either loses a limb, or has to get his and her limbs off the property. The first recorded instance involved an apple.

The phrase "go out on a limb" has little do to with fruit trees. It describes what happened when traders used to clamber all over one another to buy or sell. Because they had no computers, it was all done by hands, legs and mouth. Sometimes open-hearted, wailing really loudly, terribly dejected (they called that "open cry"), esp. after a trading loss.
