I don't see the problem mentioned in that article about expectations of living only off pensions, SS and divvy income from retirement savings portfolios at all... I have run the numbers many different ways and there are only 1 or 2 really really bad things that could force us to dip into the principal paying us divvies in retirement... with our diversity, etc., we don't depend on any one source of retirement income, but rather 7 sources of income streams all over the map.

I stopped listening to the 4% adherents long ago when every time I ran our calcs, it just indicated the 4% of acct. balance adherents are full of BS they've been spoon fed by the big money houses to ensure that in retirement one still has to sell something to generate income while DGI often offers both higher income and if planned well, without having to dip into the principal ever, barring major, LT medical/nursing care expenses.

As for passing on money, etc. to the daughter... she may or may not inherit any of our IRA stuff -- I want to die spending my last dollar, but she will inherit 7-8 figure RE free and clear as well as monthly income from my mineral rights (oil and gas) and surface rights (mostly timber)... she graduated without any student debt -- we told her at the time, that might be her only inheritance -- but that was before I saw how well our DGI/hybrid PFs were performing through good and bad time. She will inherit orders of magnitude more than I did.
