Besides the increased cosmic ray environment of a quadruple out-of-phase GSM --- AND the additional cosmic ray increase due to a weakening magnetosphere accompanying a magnetic polar excursion --- we ALSO have a third source for increased cosmic rays due to the Solar System's entry into the Orion Arm (or Orion–Cygnus Arm) of the Milky Way Galaxy. Explained in the video in the prior post starting at 32 mins. and 31 secs.
For a time, there was some protection from the higher cosmic ray density within the Orion Arm afforded due to the solar system's position in what is known as the "Local Bubble"...an area with higher magnetic energy and therefore a lower cosmic ray environment.
We are exiting the Local Bubble.
