What system of government promises to take care of its citizens so that they don't have to take responsibility for themselves like adults? You see it in the youth everywhere. They attend college and build up six-digit college debt while majoring in useless subjects. They party and get drunk and stoned. They're told by high-minded "intellectuals" with doctorates that "white privilege" is to blame for everything wrong with society. Then when they come out, they think that having to take care of themselves is a fool's game because billionaires supposedly control everything. (Cause you know, it's Jeff Bezos' fault that they can't earn a salary above the median.) Therefore, they become political activists. They join Antifa. They follow in the footsteps of Alexandria Occasional-Cortex. End result? They vote for free shit. Because it's a lot easier than actually having to act like adults. And why should they?
