I am truly surprised that this is surprising... way of the world.. Some of the alumnus from top schools might make you give your head a shake.. Another thing I have posted on often was quality free education for citizens.. but you need to perform.. it is not a free ride to hangout for 4+ years.. That way we do not get so many rich unqualified dumbos in positions of power.. and do not miss out on quality brain power from the less well to do ranks of society..You see this is naught to do with misplaced altruism.. simply intelligent resource management ..

and probably again Mq will call this jealousy.. but I had the means to put myself, wife and kids through good schools with dough to spare.. so this is not about me personally.. but it is about a better world for the future..

Just because mom and/or dad ere very bright does not infer automatically that progeny are.. Accident of birth is a bad formula for long term success..
