Fox Criticizes Beto O’Rourke For Reading Too Many Books Donald Trump has never read a book in his life ... not even the ones he pretends to have written. Now that's the kind of man we need. by JakeThomas Fox News host Brian Kilmeade scoffed, “As if it’s a big plus that he reads books." According to Esquire, as Beto O'Rourke announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential race, Fox criticized him for reading too many books. Fox talk show host Brian Kilmeade begins discussing a Vanity Fair profile on O’Rourke in which it is pointed out that he has a “huge library.” “As if it’s a big plus that he reads books,” Kilmeade scoffed. His point seems to be that it is nonsensical for Vanity Fair to focus on O’Rourke’s library, and it is simply an indicator that the media is biased in favor of him. Vanity Fair writes about the collection of presidential biographies in the library, suggesting, “there’s been some reflection on the gravity of the presidency." O’Rourke’s careful reflection on the gravity of the presidency and his avid reading separate him from the sitting president, who cannot claim to have done or do either. Even Kilmeade admits that O’Rourke is a genuinely charismatic politician, but, O’Rourke does not seem to have many clear policy ideas. He recently said, "I don’t know where I am on a spectrum, and I almost could care less. I just want to get to better things for this country." Now O’Rourke is joining a saturated Democratic primary field, and he’ll have to actually make some policy decisions in order to have a fighting chance. The fact that he reads book will help him, but it will not guarantee him the nomination.
