How do I know who to believe? Statistically speaking it’s a useful approach to assume Trump is lying until you find evidence for the opposite. According to Politifact 70% of his claims are lies (at least mostly false). The reason why he lies so often most likely is the psychological disorder called narcissism. Narcissists are so self-centered that their ego basically becomes the only value they have. With Trump the narcissism is so intense that even truth isn’t the same to him as it is to you or me. To you or me it means “what really happened”. To him it means “what benefits me”. It would benefit him if the wall already was largely built, so to him that’s the truth. He simply can’t tell the real truth because he has no grip of the concept. That’s why his lawyers won’t let him testify in person. He would inevitably start lying and keep lying to protect other lies. He simply can’t help it.
