I understand that point of view, but I do think he has made blunders when speaking extemporaneously. Again, the McCain attack being one of them. That's not that McCain appealed to me particularly because he didn't, but if you put John Kerry in Hanoi Hilton I would have given him the respect due him for what he endured.

There are things I liked about McCain, but there were things that made him undesirable as a presidential candidate. On his worst day I would have viewed him as preferable to Obama, who had no business there at all.
