The most accurate description of my career is that I am a Software Hardware Integration Test(SHIT) specialist.

In Electronic Engineering I am in the quite small set of EEs that have done original chip and circuit designs. Usually, these designs were part of or an entire system that also included additional commercial computers and software.

I was often involved in the system design from concept through manufacturing and field deployment.

Sometimes my work required I define a problem and architect the software solution and then write and integrate the software.

My experience encompasses the time of systems from discrete device implemented micro-controllers thru multi-core, multi CPU supercomputers. Today all engineers use a computer and many are involved in some part of software creation. A smaller and smaller set have familiarity with any circuit design of how the computer hardware works.

Most software today is written with languages that likely have several abstraction layers above the functioning hardware.
