That is a fantasy. Before I address the substance of this post, let me recommend you consider the effect of that kind of ridicule on posters who might enjoy a serious conversation with you. You are arguing with, of course, something I didn't say, and then accuse that other argument of "fantasy." I am, of course, looking for several things in an ideal candidate, though my final choice will be the one who I think I can beat Trump and the Reps the most decisively. And repudiate, publicly, this whole escapade. For the moment, I think that's likely someone who can hold the disparate elements of the Dem party together, with as much enthusiasm as possible. As for serious structural and policy reform, I'm willing to wait on that if necessary, since I consider the first task, the primary one. Edit - you understand that in a democracy most people vote for the person whom they think will represent *their* interests best and *not* the guy who will sell them out for someone else's interests, right? Actually, hectoring aside, I think you are wrong on that score. I think most folk vote for someone they are "comfortable" with. And that "comfort" covers many sins of which "interest" is only one. Lack of "comfort" with a woman is another, with a particular personality style is yet another, with a set of religious convictions or lack thereof is still another, region of the country, personal rectitude, and so on and so on. There is much attention on the Obama/Trump voters, for which there is no clearer indicator of the "comfort" argument.
