I don't think it is a given. I am worried about it. That is why I think the candidate who can build consensus on our side of the fence and bring people in from the other side of the fence has the best chance in the short and the long term. My take is that if you get someone far more to the left, which is the person you are describing, at least a good part of the middle will see the Democrats as over reaching and will either stay home or hold their nose and vote the other way. That would lead to Trump getting re-elected and possible keeping the Senate Republican as well, which would be a real disaster for the country. Again, all speculation on all our parts. My speculation fits more to my personality type which is more of a consensus builder. I see lots of shades of grey around all of this and very little black and white. If I would happen to be wrong and you were right, I would be fine with that. I just don't think that it will play out that way.
