"Sentiment is so negative about the group that good news will just prevent a further decline.)"

Agreed, but this is reminding me of the networking debacle last year.It was clear after 2 months that csco was taking market share AND that they would meet estimates and keep growing. Sentiment stayed negative, driving csco from 75-45 on no announcements from the co, except postive ones. After 3 months of this nonsense, the e report came out, confirming that things were ok, and even better since the competition was weakened.

AMAT, KLAC, and NVLS will emerge from this recession in equipment stronger than ever, and the big ramp up will be on in earnest.I still think your scenario of the turn happening in the summer is possible, but that it could be much sooner, with all the recent good news. Unfortunately for investors, the situation is fluid, so the KLAC report could do some damage in the am.

Did you see the news release on the cap equip projected growth rates over the next 3 years? It appears that there is much agreement on 99 being a very good year, with 2000 being spectacular. If there is such a huge surge from the 3 to the 8 quarters out, a triple on these companies stocks in 2 years is possible. That is even quicker than I was anticipating.
