When they finish it has to do with lots of things, including especially the lawsuit. So who knows.

But NT will do what you described now, better, with parallel processing from multiple Pentiums. Why not that? NT 4 in the current service pack is I think pretty mature.

Another way to decide: Call Matrox. Ask them which operating systems they have drivers for. The answer might determine your action.
