Airbus might be able to recycle the A380 plans 20 years from now when the volume of air travel is much larger.

The aircraft was just too large for today. Boeing bet that passengers would want to pay more to fly a direct route rather than transfer through a hub in Dubai etc.

And that's what they now do, fly from Perth Australia nonstop to London. They fly over Dubai but never land.
