I liked some of that which Teddy Roosevelt (TR) did. Some of it not so much.

We need to recognize that the GOP/Dems are a moving collective of people who are born and die and with them go the thoughts and traditions. What is R now was not R always. Same with Ds. Would TR be a "Humper" or not??
I think he'd be horrified by Trump as representing the worst inclinations of humanity. He was against pretty much everything the current Oval Office interloper is for - cronyism and criminality.

My solution is for everyone to simply talk about specific issues.

Is it a good idea for

  • the US to continue with an oil economy as even the oil producers embrace their sunlight?
  • us to want clean water and food
  • us to have pure and effective drugs
  • globalism to be our "god" and is everything that makes a company more money good for us?

TR and I would agree on many of these things I suspect. He was racist but not unduly so for his time. Had he been born in 1960 - he would probably had different opinions than he had and ones closer to what I hold now.

Can't you see what these Republicans are doing? They are trying to instill fear in moderates about the progressives and you are playing right into their hands. They want to keep things the way they are, in the hands of private industry, income inequality, conservative ideology of things like trickle down economics and no government single payer universal health care, or affordable education, etc.

If they understood Democrats and cared about the people they would be Democrats.

The progressive Democrats are on the right path and you are simply helping the right wing with your constant attacks on the left.

The Republican ideology needs to be crushed and you don't seem to understand that!

<<

" it looks like you found yourself another right winger to follow!"
That's not much of a defense. When you can't find one thing you like that any R president ever did, when you discount all articles written by R's or former R's and when you try to claim an R president is a D, you're a political bigot.

Here are some yes or no questions that only a political bigot would have a hard time answering. Follow the responses.

How can you defend the Republicans with those silly questions?

But I'll answer your questions: You are not looking at the big picture of Republican ideology i.e. to get rid of government and supplant it with private industry owned by the rich! and worsening income inequality.

Ike started the interstate hwy for military reasons and the Democrats did not oppose it. He also gave us Nixon and didn't crush Mccarthy, or confront the right wing ideology.

Nixon sabotaged the Viet Nam war talks which caused the war to go on for years and millions of people were hurt or killed. And the liberals had more to do with the environment than Nixon ever did!

Shrub started two stupid wars and cut taxes on the rich and almost brought the world economic system down. He was horrible and even medicare part D was a scam in that he did not allow medicare to negotiate drug prices or allow people to get their drugs from Canada.

And he tried to privatize social security Bush was horrible how can you defend him??

And we liberal Democrats got rid of LBJ. The Republicans would never have done that!!

Hillary and Kerry voted for that war because they knew the horrible Republicans would go after then if they didn't, remembering Wayne Morse and Earnest Gruening!!

"I know the history of politics going back 100 years and the Republicans have been on the wrong side of it without pause and the Democrats on the right side"

Was Ike on the wrong side when he started the interstate highway system, IGY, and the space race?
Was Nixon on the wrong side when he started the EPA and went to China?
Was Shrub on the wrong side with Medicare D?
Was LBJ on the right side in Nam?
Were Hillary and Kerry on the right side in Iraq?
