Yiwu, My sincere apologies for the gender blunder. Nevertheless I still feel the need for a rejoinder. The following is what you wrote to Worswick:<<"Worswick: Thanks you so much for the post of the French involvement in Rwanda. I am sure CIA also did something of similar">> Yiwu, did you honestly expect no challenge to your irreponsible statement? When I posted a request for you to clarify I refuted with what I felt was an appropriate challenge. Let me first say that I do believe the CIA has behaved in the past in a manner inconsistent with the public mandate. I thought I was clear about that. I also point to the fact that we have a system to correct these errors. You still have not clarified your rather off-hand remark. Instead you went silent and then jumped back in with your indignant post. In it you say the following:<<"It is not a pleasant topic, apprently. I will stop right here. This is just one more lessons I learned about the so-called "freedom" of everything.">> No... you are quite right...it is not a pleasant topic but you still have not clarified your remark. And your sarcastic reference to freedom is baffling to me. Has anyone taken away your freedom to post your opinion, least of all me? You also said <<"But one thing I want to make it clear, after living in the US for 10 years, I know much more about the US than you thought I knew.">> I don't recall saying anything about your knowledge of the U.S. What I suggested was that you had apparently fallen for the party line with regard to the CIA. And I said I had personal experience with other intelligent people who had the same misconceptions about the U.S. and that I thought I found it alarming. But I did not say I thought you didn't know much about the U.S. I have not lived in China. Nor would I. I have been there many times and have relatives in Shanghai and Pan Yu. My wife is Chinese Malaysian, specifically her father was from Canton. I guess I know passably more about the Chinese culture then the average American. I am quite stunned that you have lived in the U.S., are bright enough to have earned your doctorate, and can still spiel that incredibly obtuse, (and as yet undefended) statement about the CIA. But I note that in your last message you said: <<"I am sorry to ever bring it up here on this thread">> I would think you would be. It is one of the more disingenuous items ever posted here. Maybe you are not aware of the level of insult you dealt your host country when you accused the CIA of genocide? I wouldn't think of listing here the kinds of horrors the soverign state of China has been accused of over the years. Stitch
