Good logic Wharf, just overlook LBJ's war mongering. Is that what you are saying.

And had Bobby lived he would have been elected president!

So we were on the right path.

<,

"I said we got rid of LBJ,"
I know, and I said that gave us Nixon. Getting rid of somebody has consequences. Chasing LBJ out of office might have felt good, but it didn't work out real well politically, and it prolly didn't shorten the war.

It certainly didn't shorten the war. LBJ was on the verge of signing a peace treaty that he had been negotiating and Nixon got a message to the North Vietnamese that he would give them a better deal, so don't sign, and they, foolish schmucks that they were, believed him. So they got another 5 or 6 years of war and hundreds of thousands, maybe even more than a million, more dead, land defoliated, countless babies killed or born with birth defects, etc etc.

Lots of consequences.

But not to worry because we all had good intentions.

The kind of pave the path to hell.
