********************WIND INDEX (1 - 1000) Plus (2284 - 2692)***************************
Here is an updated index to the WIND thread. Each subject lists the most relevant post numbers. There is some overlap and redundancy in the catagories, so search around.
The posts under Fundamental Analysis are a good introduction to WIND's business. The posts with a * are especially noteworthy IMHO and posts with a TA refer to the techincal analysis thread.

Quotes for the week:
Wow ... real drama on the thread this evening! Maybe this is an indication that a bottom has been reached! R. Karpel Post # 944 4/23/97
The current crop of professional money managers playing in the technology sector does not focus on a small subset of the universe like we do. They focus on 1400 companies, which is to say that they really don't focus on companies at all. In other words, they focus on industries, not companies. Peter Lynch is fond of saying that it is difficult for most managers to focus on more than 40 or 50 stocks at a time. As a former Wall Street professional, I can tell you that this happens all the time. Money managers rarely focus on individual companies the size of WIND, particularly in an industry where the total revenue is less than 400 million. The entire RTOS industry is just a blip on the radar screen. And when managers sell the sector, they sell everything. Especially those with the highest multiples. By the way, this isn't so much a criticism of money managers as much as it is an explanation for what happens. Money managers have no choice but to focus on industries. J. Cogan Post # 946 4/23/97
WIND has no intention of merely reaching the $100 million mark, a reasonable goal for most $65 million companies. WIND is going to blow past $100 en route to much loftier heights. A. Benn Post #886 4/21/97
The investors on this thread have no intention of making small and reasonable return on our investments. We intend to make large and absolutely unreasonable returns. Great growth companies with a franchise are the very best investments possible. This has been proven over and over again. A. Benn Post #941 4/22/97
