Del, this subject of arthritis is something I am not that knowledgeable about, but what I have in my elbow is osteoarthritis, or degenerative arthritis, which is an joint overuse/overstress disease common in aging, where the cartilage wears out, if I understand it correctly. While I have read quite a lot which suggests that rheumatoid arthritis may have some component of stress involved at some level, osteroarthritis is not an auto-immune system disease.

I spent that stressful period last year with my right hand on a computer mouse (when I was not outside in a rainstorm smoking. I did not mind this slight inconvenience because I am a basically polite and considerate person who cares about whether my behavior is detrimental to the health of others. Also, my maternal instinct is very strong.)

Anyway, my right elbow got a lot of use!! Also, besides stirring the cauldron vigorously, I have spent my life writing with that arm, cooking and cleaning, waving, carrying a heavy toddler and bascially living.

Boy, you sure do realize how much you use a joint when it begins hurting!!!!
