Speaking of DVD, isn't Divx about one of the stupidest things you've ever heard of?

It's a serious condender for Pierre's Turkey of the Year.

I can't say that I know enough about DVD to make a prediction.
One thing I've been considering in the light of lower cost PC's is
that the operating system is still a necessity... should make MSFT
a reasonable choice...

PX,
Demand stimulants-- IMHO there is only one true stimulant on the immediate horizon--Bandwidth.

Bandwidth expansion is coming soon (late 1998-early 99) witness:

At this time, Win98 looks like a ho-hum release. I wonder if it will be a "must have" upgrade when DSL(with "always on" feature) is available to the public?
On the other hand, home computers may evolve into an all purpose entertainment, home security, telephone, and network interface with no local hard drive.
It all depends on bandwidth.

Just musing
