Netcom's a bit late, but smart... I've been using Netcom exclusively for the past 18 months. I'm a very demanding customer who uses it will all types of configurations, at all times, and even with a Satellite Dish. So I was very upset to discover a few months ago that the only way I could take advantage of my new x2(56kbs) modem was by paying an additional $5 per month. Just when I was about to jump ship to EarthLink, Netcom quietly changed the local access numbers for the New York Area. Suddenly my v34 modem's connecting at 31.2 instead of 26.4, and my x2 modem's connecting at 46.8 instead of 28.8 ! Needless to say, they obviously upgraded the port equipment for all $19.95 users, and not just the premium priced accounts. I'm happy, and will continue to use them. Too bad they probably lost many thousends of customers per week who they will never see again back when this type of higher speed connection was charged at premium. I am not a shareholder - just sharing my experiance.

Hey Colin...you world traveler you. I hope you had fun...to think you left all of us here to ride through the turmoil from the Asian storm (Flu). What do you do? You take off to Thailand to conduct some "Direct Contact" investigation work on your portfolio. You are beginning to sound/appear like a George Soros to me my friend:-) Hope your world travels brought insight to any Asian stocks/funds you may be holding. The Palace? Yeah, the place is great...sorry it didn't work on your 486...It worked on mine back then. There were some patches though..perhaps you didn't get the latest update. I've been a member 2 years and havn't had a glitch since week 1. I have met alot of people and give 5 stars to the Palace. 5 Stars go to SI also, both of these sites have contributed to my internet enjoyment drastically over the years. ELNK?
