All the gurus seem to be hiding once gold dipped below 300.
I have several friends who have worked in former communist countries and they always comment that there exploration costs, mining costs etc bore very little relation to value. So alot of stuff that wasnt economic got mined while alot of potentially rich deposits got ignored.
The Discovery Mine in the NWT ran for several years and mined one million tons at one ounce per ton gold. Not bad. The stories of some of the highgrade are still legend in the north.
Pockets of gold elsewhere are also the stuff of legend. A few years ago a mine in the states hit a pocket of gold. I forget the name of the mine and the exact figures but they estimated the rock held something like 400,000 in gold and was sold to las Vegas as a sample for over a million. For some reason canadian mines are very leary to get into the sample buisness but Im willing to bet that little discover mine I mentioned could have made alot more had they kept and sold some of the highgrade pieces as samples.
theres a start
