Mark, IMHO the Bells are hoping to increase speed to combat LMDS Technology. This is a broad band twoway wireless system that can deliver TV, Telephony, and high speed internet. FCC auction dead line today for Feb 18 auction. LMDS is most effective in areas of high population. Not very cost effective in rural areas. High speed data services is the first service most biders plan to offer. It is the weakest service area of the three. I don't think it will drive the baby bells out of business, but it could become a real pain in the a** to them. NW
