"The Prius built in Japan was built to meet demand in California." Airplane parts are built here to meet demand in other countries. The carbon is ours, not theirs. "Does the CO2 emitted during the production and transportation of the Prius contribute to Atmospheric CO2?" Does the CO2 emitted manufacturing airplane parts for export also contribute? "denying the effects of California's demand for imported products is just silly." Only if we charged the carbon produced by our exports to the exporting nations; we don't.. BTW, we also sell to the rest of the country. That's our carbon, not theirs.
