<Put premiums are always maxed out when fear rules the market's emotion.> That is exactly how I play it as well. I Loved this past December...my only regret is that I didn't hit it harder. I was extremely active in December...things like XOM were great Put Sales. I go in tranches as well, usually start too early of course. I have seen Wollie post and have heard of CLX however I have never used it.....I use the VIX and gut feel..gut feel is sometimes pretty palpable when the SPX drops 10+ % in a couple weeks. Maybe I should check CLX out. Thanks
