Until the last twenty years Chinese restaurant food was not really Chinese food LOL

Just like this Company my family sold to McCain still makes..

wongwing.ca

Amazing how brief almost 60 years can be distilled down to..

Our Story It all started in 1948 in the heart of Montreal’s Chinatown. Wong Wing was named after its founders, siblings Marcel and Lucille Wong and their financial backer Mr. Wing. They began selling handmade egg rolls, fried rice and garlic ribs at Steinberg’s supermarkets. The company gained attention after serving their delicious food at Expo 67 in Montreal and the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in Toronto. Fast-forwarding to today, Wong Wing is a national brand that offers the largest selection of frozen Chinese dishes in the country. You can find Wong Wing products in Canadian supermarkets coast to coast.

Now with so many Chinese here Asian market s are prolific.. restaurants authentic... and no longer just Cantonese.. In fact True Canto cooking getting harder to come by.. combined often with Sichuan .. Chong Ching Hotpot .. Hakka.. (but likely not Hakka like Jay) as the Hakka restaurants here are largely Hakka that lived generations in India , Mauritius etc so really provide an Indian Chinese Fusion )...Often pork less in deference to Muslims.. So weird to me to see Chinese food with no pork on the menu... but many Hakka Chinese restaurants in Toronto are Halal also..

I have also crossed my country many times over... seeing so many nooks and crannies that most Canadians never see.. Good on you Elmat..

I crossed Canada from International Falls to Whitehorse. They have some strange looking swimming pools out on the prairie...
