I read a very interesting article in the 1/26/97 issue of Forbes. Has to do primarily with Northern Telecom and their foray into this market. Not being that technical I can only understand so much of this. But in effect they are talking about something called Web Tones. This is access to the internet via phone lines which are always on. i.e. no sign on's ,etc. They have a partnership w/Sun to develop products which use Java. It says that you will require one phone line on which you can be on the internet, pause to take an incoming call, hang up and be back on the internet. Talking about a price of $4 to $7 a month. If anyone else has read this would appreciate your input.

Also, I think I am finally answering my earlier questions as to the competition in this marketplace. Though I am still a fan of @home, I can now see the wars that are going to take place for a piece of this lucrative market. I try to apply what I read to my own thinking. Personally I don't care if I have cable or phone access if the bandwidth is high and I don't have sign on's and get log offs. So I would take whichever was available first. I guess this means that @home needs to get this thing rolled out while they still have the opportunity to own the market. Actually, I guess I should say the cable compnies need to get moving on this vs. @home since that appears to be the issue.

Sorry if I sound not so positive here but I feel it is important to find out as much as you can and then raise these issues for discussion so we can all be very informed investors.
