Huawei wrote their 5g operating system onto an obsolete and insecure version of Linux, so they wouldn't have to pay licensing fees.

They either need to comprehensively patch this old version of Linux for their own use, or migrate their 5g to a new Linix platform - both at least a 2 year proposition or longer.

Huawei's 5g is also not backward compatible with 4g and 3g.

Huawei is chabuduo 5g. It's not a technology market leader, but more like the old Soviet era achievements that sounded like good propaganda but didn't bear a closer inspection and became one more reason the new Five Year Plan would not be met.

Ren Zhengfei recently made some comments in an interview which resonates,

"If we only had known how much we didn't know, we never would have started Huawei. Everything was chabuduo. We did what we had to do. I long for those days when everything was simpler."
