best to be smart and lucky
but if not smart, hope for lucky

and

if not lucky, nothing can make any difference, but still better than dumb

to paraphrase I think John Wayne, "life is really hard, especially if one is stupid"

it is extremely difficult to help the stupid

so you believe in legislating outcomes.....

Don't get like Mq.. No Straw men.. please.. !!!

I did not say that at all.. I said an even playing field.. No different than gender equality..

You know there exist

  • Smart men and dumb men
  • smart women and dumb women (they had a disadvantage.. still do.. surprisingly less so in China today, an aside)
  • Smart folks of different ethnic backgrounds and dumb ones..
  • smart rich folks and dumb rich folks
  • smart and dumb in the gay community.. getting a better break now..

I am for equality of opportunity.. if you waste it too bad.. That is on you.. IOW no not in favour of quotas on how many of each group are hired... (That is legislating outcomes) leaves it too easy to hire a stupid person because they match the gender or Sexual orientation criterion .. Exactly the problem we have with well connected dumb but rich folks..
