Thing is, I’ve lived in the South forever, and I’m not even aware of that dialect most of the time; the African Americans I’m commonly around don’t use it. I agree with you.

Even in places where you would most expect it (Greenville or Clarksdale, MS, for example) I don’t see it other than maybe on TV.

I found AOC's imitation offensive, but I suppose those in the room might not have.
