99% of dribbles off legs are from deflections. It's legal in those cases to resume your dribble. The kid had a defender on him, acted normal, so the ref had no reason to think anything was amiss even if he saw the kick, obviously just assuming it had to have been deflected. 99% of the time, he'd have assumed correctly.
