I'm fairly new to podcasts. My basic listening time is when I'm doing my morning walk, about 45 minutes, at the mall. A godsend. As you might expect, if the podcast is a good one, it definitely makes the walk go much quicker. Unfortunately, I don't find audible books work well for me for that. The time limit on a podcast is about right for a walk and I don't have to remember anything from one session to another.

i have become addicted to podcasts and audiobooks. What I don't enjoy is sitting in front of a monitor watching people talk. I spend too much time already in front of that screen. My TV screen time has dropped off dramaticly however.

So I download the podcasts to my MP3 player and listen in the evenings or when I'm on the rowing machine. Books and podcasts make the rowing machine.....tolerable.

Most sites make it easy to download a podcast. Joe Rogan for one. Just click the download link and you are done. Others like Rubin I have to download the video and then convert to MP3. I stay away from iTunes and Google. They probably have big files on me anyway, but I try not to make it too easy for them.

So I like Rogan. He's J6P, or everyman. He talks to a lot of show business people or MMA fighters which I'm not intereste in, but he does have other guests that I enjoy. I just finished his discussion with Ben Shapiro who is flogging his new book.

Rogans podcasts are long and in depth. They average 2-3 hours. Takes me 3 days on the rowing machine to get through one :-)

Other than Sam?!

Hmm, not sure how to take that!

But here is another one. Diane Rehm retired from her daily show but has started a podcast. Here is one ofher recent shows, you can get to the whole podcast archive from there:

An American Whose White Nationalist Theories Inspired Hitler

Most Americans are not familiar with the name Madison Grant. But in the early 20th century he was one of the most well-known members of an elite group of intellectuals and policy makers who promoted ideas of racial purity and white nationalism. He influenced restrictive immigration policy making in this country, and from his 1916 book “The Passing of the Great Race,” Grant’s views spread around the globe. In fact, Hitler considered the text as his “bible.”

So who is Madison Grant and why don’t we know about him today? And what can this history teach us about the resurgence in white nationalism? Adam Serwer’s recent profile of Madison Grant looks into these questions.
