I would argue it was the educated "liberals" who provided the leadership for all three; and indeed the evolution of our modern humanitarian civilization!!

It wasn't the church that gave us democracy, ethics, the scientific method and our modern civilization, it was modern education and the liberal mind.

Religions have been around for thousands of years, but it has only been since we invented a written language which facilitated modern thought by transferring knowledge from one generation to the next accurately, and modern public education that catapulted us into the modern humanity we enjoy today!

Education is the key to both our morality and modern civilization, not religion. Where was religion when we had slavery and dictators? it was education that ended slavery and gave us democracy.

History is very clear about that.

"Are you not aware of the penalties in the middle ages for heresy or apostasy?"

And yet, the religious community provided the moral leadership for the Abolitionist, Civil Rights, and Anti-war movements.

With regard to your objections about raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, Amazon now pays its employees $15 dollars an hour and has challenged Walmart and Target to match them or raise it to $16 an hour. Target pays $13 and is set to pay $15 by 2020.

Yesterday Katie Porter humiliated Jaime Diamond who makes 31 million to pay his employees a livable wage and went through it point by point about how desperate they are on their low pay . She said $20 an hour is needed to just barely make it.

We need to raise the pay of people to get them out of poverty and that means paying CEO's less and workers more.

We also need to mitigate the homeless problem and I like Warren's ideas of taxing the rich and Yang's (running for dem president) ideas of a minimum federal allotment to every adult in the country.
