But its not just the costs, its also what interests people. I think economists have made the assumption that certain things like energy don't interest people, its just volts and amps coming out a copper wire. That is a mistake. Its the same sort of mistake as claiming that all people care about is the cost of getting from A to B in their car.

People care about what their house looks like, and solar can be blended into that pride of ownership. Economists don't (in general) go about bashing people for paying more for a particular roof architecture and roof covering (if its premium priced) but the same economists will (for ideological reasons AFAIK) bash people for spending more on their roof to produce green energy. WTF??
