What? You think my pseudo-anthropology is like a wet t-shirt or something?

To try to answer your post, when I wrote "code for that behavior" I was just referring to the belief that I have that there is much about choosing a mate that is instinctual, from our more primitive selves. For example, to turn it around, it is generally agreed that most men are most attracted to women with hour-glass figures--breasts larger than fried eggs, small waists, rounded hips. Well, you could argue that this is just an aesthetically pleasing 'package', but the studies have just been done which conclude that this configuration in women is the most accurate predictor of FERTILITY, and thus the propogation of the species. Men must know this in their primitive brains, on some level.

Do women really choose men? I think they do, at least as much as men choose women. Hopefully, the feeling is mutual!!!

Women are possibly still choosing men who are brutal to them because until recently, physical prowess in the male was essential if he was to protect his family. Most women have had the experience of being attracted to men who they KNOW are not good for them, and I can tell you from personal experience that the attraction is particularly strong and compelling.

I missed the National Geographic special on the Amazons. What did it say?
