maybe they were counting on a rejection anyway, and waited till the last minute to try and buy the airtime. after all, putting together a press release and a video (video news release on NBC's refusal beamed down to TV stations tomorrow) is a heck of a lot cheaper than 30 seconds during Super Bowl, $350 K or so. They want to be on TV news, for free! (ABC, CBS, and Fox--are you listening?) Press Release faxed to me from VVUS has a Chicago phone number for two PR flacks. This is new.
