You're right. Drug approval is likely to be closer to one year instead of two and a half years.

The FDA has 10 months plus whatever time the company takes to answer the FDA's questions. I presume the questions will be less complex than that for a cancer drug.

And perhaps there's a chance that the FDA prioritizes this drug...but I sort of doubt that will happen. As you say, it's not a cancer drug.
