Respond to of 3350 still think you guys need get away from two party system Agree with that. Biggest issue is that with only two sides, the forced dilution imposed in subsuming otherwise viable "standalone" factions into the binary system... ends up divorcing politics from the political... leaving it married instead to far less useful things. Most apparent now in our system in the rigor with which the left is made to toe the line in party orthodoxy... only about the coherence of the team, not coherence in ideas, and not conformity with ideals, or rules, but conformity itself for its own sake. It fosters a system that ends up largely being composed of "team players"... who don't have any incentive to righteously and religiously represent core constituent group interests. The melding in the middle with the inducement to compromise also means... it is not only political compromise that occurs... but compromise with the rules in favor of winning... right, Hillary ? Factionalism inherently remains somewhat more "self cleansing," first of ideological impurities... but along with that cleansing of ideological impurity you have paired a cleansing of... good old fashioned run of the mill corruption. People are not naturally inured of corruption when it is quite easily within their reach to remove the sources of it, and prevent it becoming parasitic upon themselves and their interests. Where it is not apparent that the impact of corruption is all that important to the factional interest, as it is not disrupting the focus and quality in effort of representation... which is already absent ? Compromise that is made necessary to arrange between factions rather than within them is thus going to be more about a self regulating shared policy interest... and less about graft and the division of spoils, that diverts politics from being about the interest of the voters to the interest of the elected few. Farage's recent and timely wielding of that scalpel created by reason is a brilliant proof. Not gonna happen here any time soon. The "extra-legal" aspects of the system here is well rigged to ensure it is self preserving... while the legal structure beneath it was also always rigged to be biased in favor of landowners... less about Jefferson's higher ideals, and more about his tacit acceptance of a shared base interest with Washington as self interested real property owners. The slavery issue a big part of that... the greater difficulty than others in overcoming it one result... Our system really was designed to be focused on the money... the practical and not the big ideas... with it being of, by and for the landowners of that era. The big ideas were fixed in the Constitution... legislation always intended to be more practical in focus, less ideological. I think it has failed largely for that reason... the lack of flexibility in the design, intended to protect the ideas at the core... hasn't worked out, as the elected have consistently wandered farther and farther over time from the base in ideas than was intended or expected... and they've increasingly crafted legislation that's not remotely close to being either practical or consistent with the core ideas... Immigration a perfect case in point... where the "system" we have is directly and purposefully violative of the Constitution... but no one on either side will say that... The result in practice is a steadily increasing cognitive dissonance and a requirement that politics is peopled not just with those who are most tolerant of corruption, but with those who are comfortable schizophrenics (Ann Coulter is a Bernie supporter now ?)... or clueless enough drones that the cognitive dissonance doesn't occur without cognition. I did tilt at that windmill here for a few years... three times to the SCOTUS... Mostly now, I think that apparent persistence occurred... only because it took em that long with diversions created... to abstract the technicalities sufficiently to have them deflect from the core issues and the law... without exposing it as transparent bullshit. In the end it resolved and rectified nothing... perfectly... leaving the deliberate muddle unblemished.
