4/26/2019 Contest update “Sell in May and go away” is rhyming investing punditry that you’ve probably heard. But, unfortunately, selling is prohibited by this Contest’s rules. So we’ll all have hold on tight through year-end for what promises to be some “interesting Mueller times.” Meanwhile, biotechs had a decent week, clawing back a little of last week’s losses. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 15.90% YTD (vs. up 12.99% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 10.86% YTD (vs. up 7.98% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 21.15% YTD (vs. up 17.35% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 22.77% YTD (vs. up 20.54% YTD a week ago). BULBA’s portfolio, up 77.67% YTD, had a stellar week and continued as Contest leader. OHM’s portfolio, up 62.05% YTD, got a good lift from the PETX buyout and held on to second place, while RKRW’s portfolio, up 57.58% YTD, moved back to third place. At Friday's close, 34 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 26 beating the NBI and 16 still beating the SPSIBI. The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 26.91% and a median YTD gain of 18.05%. Below is the Top Ten list.
