Janice, you are only reacting in this sarcastic manner, because Christine brought up this subject.

Not at all. "Vulnerability" and "empathy" don't mean the same thing to either sex. "Vulnerability", in the modern, Princess Di sense, has everything to do with going on Oprah and letting it all hang out. Let us demonstrate our "fragility" for all the world to see. Call me old-fashioned, but I find this deplorable.

Talking about a problem to close friends is one thing. Insisting on talking about oneself incessantly is attention-seeking. Soliciting such "confidences" and cherishing them is manipulative in the extreme.
